Our Story

A story of loss, compassion, and lasting hope.

Founded in 2006, Ryvanz-Mia Childcare is a registered nonprofit organization based in Kpando, Volta Region, Ghana, dedicated to providing vulnerable children with a safe home, quality education, nutritious meals, and the opportunity to build brighter futures.

For nearly two decades, we have believed that every child deserves more than survival—they deserve to be loved, protected, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential. Through compassionate care and sustainable community programs, we help 23+ children develop into confident, responsible, and independent adults. Working closely with families, volunteers, community leaders, and the Department of Social Welfare, we strive to create lasting solutions that strengthen both children and the communities they call home.

Where it began

Compassion became a place of safety

Ryvanz-Mia Childcare began with one woman’s extraordinary act of love. After experiencing personal loss, our founder, Mama Esi (Madam Esime Djentuh), and her children opened their own home to care for vulnerable children who had nowhere else to turn. What started with just two children (George and Mawuli) soon grew into a trusted charity organization that has transformed the lives of hundreds of children and families.

The name Ryvanz-Mia honors two special people who inspired the organization’s journey—Ryvanz, the founder’s beloved daughter, and Mia, one of the first international volunteers whose compassion helped shape our early years. Today, that same spirit of love continues to guide everything we do. future.

“Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and hopeful about the future.”

Hope Memorial School extends the mission

Hope Memorial School was created to give young children a strong educational beginning in a safe, caring environment. Through early learning, nutritious meals, creative activities, and close attention from teachers, the school helps children build confidence from the very start.

The school reflects the founders’ belief that education is one of the most powerful ways to break cycles of poverty and create lasting opportunity.

Building the Ryvanz-Mia Foster Village

As we continue to grow, we are working toward developing the Ryvanz-Mia Foster Village, a purpose-built campus that will provide safe accommodation, education, vocational training, recreation, and mentoring for vulnerable children.

The project will also strengthen Hope Memorial School, creating an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive within one supportive community. This vision represents our long-term commitment to providing sustainable care for future generations.
